SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER – 2 PM

BBC Panorama : Our man in Moscow

Russia has become one of the most hostile places in the world to be a journalist, where reporters face threats of intimidation, expulsion and imprisonment. Our Man in Moscow follows a year in the life of the BBC’s Russia Editor, Steve Rosenberg, as he tries to “walk the tightrope” during a time of great geopolitical upheaval. He reveals how his work across Russia is often tracked by security agents, events with the president are carefully choreographed, and how he has to persuade government officials to speak to him. Steve also reflects on how Russia has changed in the 30 years he’s been living there. There was a time after the fall of the Berlin Wall when he co-hosted the country’s Eurovision coverage, but now he’s mocked on national television, with one pundit describing him as an enemy of the state.
