Almost forty war correspondents have gathered in Bayeux on October 9th and 10th to debate and award seven trophies in the following categories: photo, print, radio, television, grand format television, young reporter (photo) and video image. Three honorary awards have been attributed: the Regional Prize for students and trainees of Normandy (television), the Public’s Choice Award (photo) and the Ouest-France – Jean Marin Prize (print). Presided by Lyse Doucet, the international jury of the 33rd edition of the Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award for war correspondents has reached its verdict…
“I was very impressed by the seriousness of the jury and their understanding of their responsability. From very different backgrounds – some written press, some photographers, some tv, some radio journalists – they allowed us to consider every category from so many angles so that at the end we were able to make very good choices in what were very difficult decisions. It’s the 33rd year of the Prix Bayeux Award ; it is highly respected in our profession and a marker of excellence. To be chosen as the president of this distinguished jury is both an honor and a gift.”
